AJCA Holiday Camps
Australian Junior Chess Academy organises whole day chess programs during public school holidays at our AJCA Chess Room in Sunnybank Hills, QLD 4109.
Our goal is to balance high quality small group lessons with tournaments and training matches, analysis, and puzzles so that students learn as much chess as possible and enjoy themselves while doing so!
Recess and Lunch times are included to break up the day. Students' favourite activities include Foosball, table tennis, handball, Giant Chess Set and other board games (especially Blokus and Gobblet!).
The AJCA Term 3 Masterclass (see photo below) featured Double GM special with Daniel Fernandez and Moulthun Ly.
We had directed preparation towards the QLD Interschool Finals. It was rewarding to see improved tactical vision and also opening structures we prepared appear over the board. See our students' excellent results here!
AJCA Masterclass Training Camps
Our Masterclass Training Camps are held over two days and have at least two titled teachers, with at least one teacher being a Grandmaster.
Students are divided into two groups mainly based on ability for more directed small group lessons. Homework, personal training plans and personal feedback are given to each student.
Expect approx 5h of lessons and 2h of training games per day.
Lesson Topics include
• Best game collections (e.g. Karpov)
• Common structures (e.g. Carlsbad)
• Tactical themes (e.g. Domination)
• Very common openings (e.g. London)
• Competitive thought processes
